UC was the Prime Contractor on the Hopkinton Station 126 Expansion. Spanning two construction seasons, our scope involved the installation of 2.5 miles of 9-way, and approximately 1,000 feet of supplementary, concrete-encased distribution ductbank, 27-cast in place concrete vaults, averaging 10-12 feet deep.

The heavily traveled business/residential route along South St. and West Main St. was especially challenging, requiring crews to manage impacts to multiple side streets, several intersections, and in one area, Interstate 495 on/off ramps. As a result, we executed the roadwork during nighttime hours while additional support crews maintained our laydown yard and removed stockpiled soil during the day.

Other specifics included avoidance/relocation of existing utilities, soils and water management, and temporary roadway restoration. Work was sequenced to minimize road plating, leaving all areas promptly backfilled for normal weekend travel.
