United Civil has began underground construction for the Greater Cambridge Energy Program, also known as GCEP. As a significant Eversource investment in energy infrastructure, UC has been entrusted as the Prime Contractor to complete this project. Over the next 5 years, our crews will be completing (5) new twin-115kV circuits, totaling 8.5 miles of trench, with (51) vault installations, (5) jack and bores, and (1) HDD under the Charles River. The (5) ductbanks will connect to the first-of-its-kind underground substation in Cambridge’s Kendall Square to 4 surrounding substations in Somerville, Allston, Brighton, and Vicinity’s Kendall Power Station in Cambridge.
