United Civil is currently serving as the Civil Contractor in partnership with MJ Electric for the UCMP Lines 1753-1792 project, a key component of Eversource’s Underground Cable Modernization Program (UCMP). This initiative focuses on upgrading critical transmission infrastructure by replacing legacy fluid-filled cable systems with modern cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) cable technology, improving long-term reliability, performance, and environmental resilience. The project connects Cedar Heights Substation to Glenbrook Substation and includes the installation of approximately 5.5 miles of transmission ductbank. United Civil’s scope also includes the construction of 26 splice vaults and 28 handholes to support system access and maintenance. UC will also be supporting a critical element of the system upgrade, executing a 310-linear-foot trenchless crossing beneath the Metro-North Railroad corridor.
