United Civil is the site contractor for the City of Cambridge’s Tobin Montessori School. This was a multi-phase and multi-packaged project.

UC began with excavation of test pits to allow design engineers to take additional soil and groundwater samples. The project included site enabling to demo existing utilities and prepare the site for the excavation and backfill for the geothermal vaults, proposed new building, circuit piping, and return piping.

Additional excavation and backfill was performed for drainage and site utility installation. Construction of an underground stormwater storage tank including the installation of a temporary support of excavation (steel sheeting), drilled shafts to support the tank, excavation of the tank within a sheeted cofferdam, dewatering of excavation, construction of concrete tank, and backfilling of structure.

Once the installation of the utility infrastructure systems and new building foundations were completed, preparation of subgrade for final surfacing and paving was performed.
