United Civil is the prime contractor on this electrical ductbank and manhole installation/rebuild project for National Grid in Utica, New York; part of Utica’s major safety improvement project to reshape transportation in the downtown area. Currently working on Phase 1 of the project, scope of work includes construction of approx. 3700 ft. of a nine (9) way ductbank, installation of nine (9) precast manholes, rebuild of thirteen (13) manhole head structures and rebuild of fve (5)vault head structures.
The ductbank route requires significant trenching through urban areas in downtown Utica, including multiple bridge and intersection crossings. This project requires challenging coordination with coinciding projects, including National Grid gas line replacement, city water line replacement and installation of a fiber optic system.
