United Civil performed the earthwork and cast-in-place concrete work for the renovation and addition to the 145-year old town hall in Topsfield, MA. A major component of the work included the installation of needle beam shoring for the existing structure in order to tie-in the new building addition.
Concrete work included placement of cast-in-place concrete footings, foundation walls and slab-on-grade. Earthwork consisted of the excavation and preparation for placement of footings, installation of sheeting shoring and bracing for protection of adjacent utilities and structures and import and placement of necessary fill materials. The project also included dewatering the site, demolition of existing abandoned utilities and associated structures, and installation of a perimeter drainage system for the building.
